Job Description:
 

Administer Microsoft and Linux servers located at our Chicago facility & resolve server related issues. Document all changes made to servers.  Communicate all changes and high priority issues as appropriate.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Proactive monitoring of Microsoft and Linux servers health (examples disk space, processing utilization, alerts/errors, etc.) so they can be addressed before problems arise.
  • Resolve all problems relating to servers (problem tickets).
    • Escalate any Severity 1 tickets or issues that can’t resolved to the Director of IT – Infrastructure
  • Test all changes to Microsoft and Linux servers before implementing any changes to production systems.
  • Apply all necessary patches and upgrades as necessary for Microsoft and Linux servers.
    • Apply all critical security patches within 30 days of release
  • Administer specific server applications as required:
    • Perform daily administration for centralized backup system at the Chicago location
    • Perform daily administration for all Symantec Anti-Virus servers
    • Perform daily administration for Proxy system
    • Perform daily administration for Client-Site VPN system (OpenVPN)
    • Perform daily administration for internal and external DNS systems
    • Perform daily administration for Provision (Terminal Server Farm)
  • Write scripts as necessary to automate processes
  • Document all processes involving Microsoft and Linux servers
  • Documenting all changes to any system in SeatonCorp’s change control system
  • Assist with security audits
  • Participate in any IT Infrastructure projects as necessary
 
 
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND TRAITS
  At least 2 year of Linux or Unix administration experience (any Linux/Unix flavor)
  At least 2 year of Microsoft Server (2000 or later) experience
  At least 1 year experience writing scripts (any flavor (Batch, csh, Perl, etc.)
  At least 5 years experience in the IT support arena
  Excellent English communication skills – Both spoken and written
  Demonstrate analytical skills needed to trouble-shoot problems and issue that arise with server administration.
  Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail.
  Able to work flexible hours
 
SHIFT HOURS: US shifts / Must be flexible to work evenings & nights
